just a few minutes ago i found myself clicking the "switch" button on the blogger homepage, to try the new google-blogger-blogspot-bloggie-with-the-scary-terms-of-condition-thingie which promised sayonara to the "publishing spinner" forever.... and while i waited while it was switching - i missed the publishing spinner while i stared at the "this may take a minute or two" message - i suddenly thought that they might fuck up and erase all my posts, just like what hotmail had done to my inbox and archive messages. after more than just a minute or two they told me that they have not finished switching and they'll just email me someday when they finally do so...WTF!!!

so, tis good that i could still open the dashboard to the old blogger...bugger...booger...j. edgar hoover...pooper...blooper...

i finally got to try the cebu city sports center rubberized track oval the other day, my leg muscles all ache right now but it felt great to run again. i once thought happiness was running with someone of the same pace and stride. it's rare and fleeting, but bliss is bliss.

in the animatrix story 'world record' a track athlete broke through the matrix when he pushed his body beyond its limits. i thought about this while washing the shorts i ran in (technically not running shorts) because i foolishly tried the same thing before, only to have my knees give out on me while crossing EDSA later that night and got sidelined for about a month.

i was listening to the coffeehouse on launchcast radio because it provided good laundry music. it played please baby don't from the new sergio mendez album with vocals by john legend...

the coffeehouse playlist is quite eclectic, some days they sound like the pirated new york starbucks cd, sometimes it sounds like my mp3 playlist, at times it sounds like 99.5 RT on a good day. sometimes it reminds me of NU107 in the early days. well not during the first months when they would play xmal deutchland's "matador" ad infinitum. but during the time they started playing "kitchen sink drama" "dear god" "nothing like flowers" "tears" "damaged goods" etc.

they sponsored a lot of concerts then, new wave but with some punk acts sometimes. i remember IOV screaming "skate! skate! skate!" over the moshpit at the open air topmost level of the sm north edsa carpark. some of the bands later got their songs played in NU (.... just a loooocal boy...ang taaaatay mong kalbo). XB102 did this before, but it did not have a strong signal. sayang.

last month, i saw the new rivermaya cd isang ugat isang dugo, and wonder of wonders, it's a cover album of songs by dean's december, violent playground, ethnic faces, identity crisis, the jerks, wuds, silos...and 2 songs by joey ayala! (teka no song from the dawn or betrayed?) it's the 80s all over again.

"...i see them people walking down the streets at night, they all look like they long for a fight..." i'm gonna buy that cd and then pogo.

last sunday i went inside the dumaguete cathedral a few minutes before mass. i sat down a couple of pews from the back, beside the marble listing of all the parish priests since the 16th c.

everybody rose when the priest and his altar boys came in, genuflected...and wonder of wonders!!!...an unmistakeable drum beat started!! i thought somebody must have fucked up the sound system, but suddenly the lights went on around the altar, across the nave... the concert lights and sounds were part of the mass!! and the priest was singing along too!

and the music was quite modern, indie rockish even, the drum beat started a song that sounded like the googoo dolls' iris. the next song used sounded like elton john's circle of life from the lion king. and the third one was a little color it reddish. holy molly! ganon na pala misa ngayon, sayang i have a bus to catch at natunawan na rin ako sa kinain kong nan and kebabs.

on my way to the bus station i kept thinking that i might have just missed seeing a full bohemain rhapsody cantata.

PDI Comics

siguro dahil bihira na akong makahawak ng diyaryo ngayon kaya naninibago pa rin ako sa layout ng comics page ng PDI. di masanay ang mata ko na di na abot hanggang sa bottom ng page ang comic strips. napaka-alien nuong sudoku board na naroroon.

sa bottom most strip ako nagsisimula dati magbasa ng PDI comics page, sa tuldok strip. parang pasakalye lang tuldok strip, kasi di naman siya kinatatawanan, at kahit mapangiti ako eh sa isip ko lang yon nangyayari, di na umaabot sa mukha.

sa taas non eh yong loveknots na minsan kwela, actually ang kwela eh ung me loveknots pa rin kahit minsan lang kwela sila jaja. faves ko yong kiko machine ni manix abrera na anak ni jess abrera na long time editorial cartoonist ng PDI. may compilation book na nga ng kiko machine, nakabili ako sa NBS, asteeg! rakenrol!!

dati may strip na coffee cats sa ka-row ng kiko machine sa left side, pero nawala dahil namatay na yong cartoonist. sa isang pugad baboy compilation eh me caricature si p.m. junior na gawa nong cartoonist ng coffee cats.

yong ben at mikrokosmos at divine comedy eh dinadaanan ko lang papuntang atomo and weboy na nasa left side, parang sharp bend sa race car track, biglang liko, iwas sa mutts na nasa taas ng divine comedy kasi gusto ko siya i-save for later. di ko gusto yong divine comedy para lang siyang marker papuntang left side. yong atomo and weboy tingin ko sobrang kakatawa siguro siya kapag me tama ka sa jutes.

kwela yong baby blues kasi para siyang naka realtime, the kids grow up before our eyes, at tatlo na sila ngayon. hindi katulad ni marvin sa itaas nito na strip na forever na lang na baby.

foxtrot is a nerd strip. kwela siya sa kanyang pop sensibility. meron pang time na me crossovers siya with other strips na hindi naman nakalabas si PDI so kung di ka familiar sa ibang syndicated strips eh lost ka. pero kung me amats ka sa jutes eh siguradong magandang pang-induce ng laughing trip dahil di mo ma-gets hehe.

pagkatapos ko sa foxtrot na topmost strip sa left side ay babalikan ko yong mutts na love kong strip, gusto ko si crab na walang ginawa kundi mag-crab. nuong nag-paalam sa kanya yong 2 mutts dati eh sinagot niya ng " %$#@*&!!! " kasi daw he just can't say goodbye.

then diretso ako sa old time fave na pugad baboy na sangkatutak na ang compilation books ngayon. dati katabi ng pugad baboy ang drama serial strip na katrina. nasubaybayan ko din dati ang kwento ni katrina kasama sila pomping, nanay nila, si apen, sila rigor at dr. guiller. minsan pa nga sa pugad baboy eh binabasa nila ang PDI para alamin kung ano na ang nangyari kay katrina. akala ko ang magkakatuluyan si katrina at si apen.

last kong binabasa ang a.lipin ni jess abrera, political joke strip kasi siya kaya hinuhuli ko, parang balik sa mga balita, so pagkatapos ko siyang basahin eh diretso ako sa commentaries sa opinion section ng PDI.

ngayon eh lost ako sa binagong format ng PDI comics page. wala na akong ruta at di ako mapalagay na kalahati na lang ng page ang strips. kainis.
