when you feel trapped and can't move on

i often wonder what is worse for me, being left behind or arriving too early. that friday afternoon in tangil, with two and a half hours until the next ferry i thought not making the last trip would have been better because that would force me to move on after a few slaps to the forehead.

arriving early leaves me with no other options but to fucking wait and kill time, this always brings on long spells of staring blankly into space, into bright midday humid rural port area space filled with brown dust and blue sea and white sky. i could imagine myself already on the other side being invited to carnivorous visayan fiestas, promised banana cakes and fed with native goodies with hot chocolate in dark and smoky joints like opium dens frequented for their quick sweet thick dreamy fix.

i was jolted out of my reverie by fergie telling me through the videoke machine that i don't want no drama. curious thing was that it really was fergie's voice coming out of the videoke machine and not some irksome falsetto singing about humps and lady lumps. i was drawn towards this amazing machine and saw the rest of the BEPs in concert telling the audience that she's got them spending.

turns out that someone somewhere thought of a gift to bequeath music lovers who can't sing or won't sing in public and can't stand other people's singing, the mtv videoke! for five pesos you could watch and listen to two music videos or concert cuts of songs of your choice. like a music video jukebox!

ha!! let the ferry arrive late, push those buttons for me mate!
